DAY 3
Slept well & got out around
9:30am. That’s the thing about traveling in a bigger group, generally much
slower. Went to the Great Market – food, paprika, clothes, lace, souvenirs,
& places to eat.

Paprika! |
Ate: rice ball, a bit of a jacket potato, and a sip of
mulled wine (which reminded me of Bath!). Then took a tram to the Gellert Hotel
& Baths & peeked in. Next, Castle Hill! This was my next favorite part
(after nighttime Budapest) – cobblestone streets, band playing outside, a
coffee house with cakes & café, slight drizzle, old churches, splendid
views of the city & Danube…perfection.

These places are one of the reasons I fell in love with Europe: the
beauty, history, atmosphere…
We took the bus back down, found an
Irish bar with goulash (I was determined to try some), and relaxed inside for a
bit before heading back out to visit the main synagogue. Unfortunately you had
to pay to just go in & we were already trying to make up for the extra
money spent in Slovenia so we left and went to Gerbauers for chocolate. It was
in Asia’s 1000 Places to Go Before You Die book!
We
made an American breakfast for dinner for our 2 hosts that night (scrambled
eggs with more veggies than the average American eats a day), and then went for
a night out! Lots of dancing & met some fun Irish & American guys!
