DAY
4
“Booted
in Budapest” Yes, woke up to our car with a boot on it. Accidental illegal
parking. Sooo we had to call & a Hungarian man came to collect the fine
& take it off. This put us about 3 or 4 hours behind schedule, so we couldn't go to Auschwitz. Instead we headed straight to Krakow, Poland. On
the way, we drove through northern Hungary & Slovakia. No surprises here!
Stopped on the side of the road next to a surprisingly elegant house in the
countryside.
Stopped in a Slovakian town to get
snacks & lunch (sandwiches) & drove on to Krakow! Arrived later,
probably 7pm, and had yet another delicious meal at a crowded Polish
restaurant. I got schnitzel & fries & a Polish beer. The schnitzel was
like a giant, flat chicken nugget pancake – but it was good! However, the perogies
that Asia ordered were the best. They had some kind of white dipping sauce…any
ideas? There was music playing, everyone was friendly, & it was because of that
did I enjoy the little bit of time we had in Krakow. We walked around after
dinner but it was raining so didn’t stay out long. Our couchsurfer’s place was
a bit outside of the center – she’s Polish & studying Czech language and
tourism. She spoke great English, made us all tea, we chatted a bit & then
went to sleep.
